Pooh!

Add some joy to your January, celebrate ‘Winnie the Pooh Day’ on the 18th!

The curious name of Winnie-the-Pooh came from Christopher Robin, from a combination of the names of a real bear and a pet swan. During the 1920s there was a black bear named "Winnie" in London Zoo who had been the mascot for the Winnipeg regiment of the Canadian army. "Pooh" was the name of a swan in ‘When We Were Very Young’ a book of poems also by A.A. Milne.

Now did you know that Pooh is not a silly bear all the time? Pooh can be

very wise indeed! Here are some of his words of wisdom to help guide you through the year ahead...

“A hug is always the right size.”

“Don’t underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering.”“If the person you are talking to doesn’t appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”

“You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”

“Rivers know this: There is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”

“Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon.”
