Did you know that 8th May is a dedicated day celebrating the humble and loveable donkey? Local sanctuary Polesworth Donkey Sanctuary opened on the 25th March 2023. Their mission to rescue and care for unwanted or miss treated donkeys. They first rescued six donkeys in from a farm. The donkeys were in a terrible state when they rescued them but with the hard work and dedication of staff and volunteers the donkeys are now healthy and enjoying life at Polesworth Donkey Sanctuary.
During their short journey so far, staff realised that it wasn’t just donkeys in need of rescuing, they were contacted by several different people to see if they could re-home a variety of animals! Now down at the sanctuary they have donkeys, alpacas, goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens, ducks, horses and guinea pigs!
Polesworth donkey sanctuary is a not for profit organisation and relies solely on donations and visitors to the sanctuary to help them give all their rescued animals the support they need. In the last couple of weeks some of their animals have had little babies of their own! Keep an eye out for the special events they host to help raise funds to support the animals.
